About This Site

Best Indoor Plant Care publishes first-hand reviews, comparisons and how-to guides for people who keep houseplants at home: self-watering stakes for trips away, indoor potting mix, sticky traps for fungus gnats, floor grow lights for dim corners, and rolling caddies for heavy pots.

Plant and Home Safety

Some houseplants can be harmful if a pet or a child chews them. Nothing on this site is veterinary or medical advice and we make no claim that any plant, soil or product is safe for animals. Check each plant with your vet, and keep plants, potting mix, plant food and sticky traps out of reach of pets and children.

Large pots are heavy, especially after watering. Do not lift more than you safely can, ask for help, and lock caster wheels before leaving a plant on a rolling caddy. Rolling a tall plant can tip it, so move it slowly and keep the path clear.

Keep water away from grow light adapters, cords and outlets, route cords where they will not trip anyone or be chewed, and follow each maker's directions. Check self-watering setups before you leave home, since a slipped hose or a spilled reservoir can damage floors. Wear a mask and wash your hands when handling dry potting mix, and do not look directly into a bright grow light.
